Toss Out Your Asprin
By: Abby |Tomorrow’s visitors to Berlin are Bayer Leverkusen, a club based in the North Rhine-Westphalia region (like so many others, as I like to say). If their name sounds familiar, you’re probably thinking of your medicine cabinet. They were formed in 1904 by workers from the Bayer corporation. Not only do they still have Bayer’s name, [...]
Bad News and Good News
By: Abby |Injuries are piling up, with possibly 4 first-team players out for the visit of Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow. In a squad without huge depth, it is a worry as the 5th-place team approaches.
Swiss central defender Steve von Bergen (which for some reason always sounds like ‘Steve from Bergen’ when the GolTV commentators say it) went off [...]
Hey, I Thought We Were Friends
By: Abby |After taking a first-half lead against our friends in Karlsruhe, two second-half goals condemned us to our fourth successive away defeat. Hertha has now been knocked down to ninth (from seventh) while Karlsruhe continue their surprising success and now have a firm grip on fourth.
Karlsruher SC Preview: What is a Fanfreundschaft Anyway?
By: Abby |After a somewhat endless (if exciting at the end) international break, we’re now back to the regular sort of football. In the Bundesliga’s endless wisdom, the Friday game this week is our away match to Karlsruhe. Also, in the endless wisdom of GolTV, this is one of the games they’re not showing, so it’s another [...]
News, Rumors, and Internationals
By: Abby |Well, Nature has seen my hatred of snow and decided to lay down a few inches. Fortunately, I’m home in Denver for Thanksgiving so I don’t actually have to go out in it. Instead I get to drink tea and/or hot chocolate and look at it while watching Euro 2008 qualifiers. I’m currently watching Italy [...]
Generally, I hate snow.
By: Abby |As funny it was watching highlights of the Hertha-Hannover match last week, I am of the opinion that snow has no place in football (actually, I’m generally of the opinion that snow has no place anywhere but ski resorts).
Matchless Preview/Herthaners Away
By: Abby |It’s Friday, which normally means writing a match preview. However, it’s international week, which means there’s no match to write about. However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on in the Hertha world, or that all our players get a week off. A lot of the squad are off with their countries. Let’s hope they [...]
The Ethical Question of Hertha Freundin
By: Abby |One of the first times I was aware of Hertha BSC Berlin’s existence was at the launch of the Hertha Freundin website. Yes, this marks me out as a new Hertha fan, but I admitted as much in my very first post here.
Early snow and late goal
By: Abby |I wasn’t shocked when I read that there was a late goal scored in the Hertha Berlin game on Saturday. That’s fairly common. What was a pleasant surprise was that the late goal was scored by Hertha. Also, that it was scored by Andre Lima. And it was the winner.
Hannover 96 Preview
By: Abby |Hannover 96 are, for whatever reason (snazzy red uniforms?) in 5th place. Hertha BSC Berlin, on the other hand, are in 10th. There are 5 points separating them. That’s not insurmountable at this point in time, particularly in the Bundesliga. Admittedly, I don’t know huge amounts about Hanover so I don’t have much to say [...]
