Oh, Come On

By: Abby | Comments 7 Comments

The Friday Bundesliga game this week is Hertha v. MSV Duisburg. Normally, when a Bundesliga game is played on Friday, that means that GolTV shows it. Because there aren’t any other games being played on Friday. It’s just the Bundesliga. They have the monopoly on Friday. So I was looking forwards to being able to [...]

Where Did the Week Go?

By: Abby | Comments No Comments

Somehow, last week disappeared. I’m not sure how. But suddenly I looked up and I was watching the Oscars while drinking pink champagne (no, really). And the week had gone by and I hadn’t written about any of the things I wanted to write about.
Including a preview of the Wolfsburg game. I would have said [...]

Better To Read For One Minute

than watch for 90. At least, that’s what I understand from friends and match reports, having not watched it. The game was petering out to a 0-0 draw when Raffael made the most of a poor clearance from former Hertha player Thorben Marx after a throw-in and fired into the net. It was, quite literally, [...]

Whatever the Case, Arminia Bielefeld Exists

By: Abby | Comments 7 Comments

My very favorite random discovery relating to German geography on Wikipedia is the entry for the “Bielefeld Conspiracy.” Basically, it’s a German internet meme which states that the city of Bielefeld does not exist, that it’s a hoax perpetuated by shadowy figures. The way the theory is proved is in three questions: Do you know [...]

Important Serbians and Young Americans

By: Abby | Comments 3 Comments

This weekend Marko Pantelic showed his worth to the club with two fantastic goals, and the Hertha website makes a note of it. Not only does he get a nice article, he’s also replaced Gilberto as the main image. He was the offense for the first half of the season, and it’s likely that he’ll [...]

Same As the First

By: Abby | Comments 2 Comments

I concluded Friday’s nostalgic and slightly emotional post by concluding that it was unlikely for history to repeat itself. Our away record is atrocious and Stuttgart were starting to pull themselves together before the break, despite losing to Schalke right after it. I was already thinking towards Bielefeld.
I was wrong.

Die Kings vom Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion

By: Abby | Comments 3 Comments

If this was game was against anything but Stuttgart tomorrow, I’d consider coming home this late an excuse to be a bad blogger and not write this match preview. I’m tired and wet. But this is Hertha versus Stuttgart and that holds a place in my heart.

A Young Striker Had A Dream Bundesliga Debut Saturday

By: Abby | Comments 4 Comments

Unfortunately, it was Martin Fenin of Eintract Frankfurt. The 20-year-old Czech got a hat-trick at the Olympiastadion in a 3-0 victory over the capitol city side, wowing onlookers and winning new fans.
So not exactly the start we were looking for.
