Um. Well. Um.

By: Abby | Comments 2 Comments

It’s an international break, and from a Hertha perspective, it’s pretty damn boring. Some of the team is gone, and those that aren’t don’t have much to do. They had a friendly against 9th-division side Altenberge, where they scored 10 goals (Artur Wichniarek knocked up a hat-trick, 19-year-old Tim Scheffler did as well, new signing [...]

I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday

By: Abby | Comments 3 Comments

The way this season has gone, it only makes sense that when we do finally lose, it’s to the team that we always beat.
Grumble.
It was a bad day for us. There’s not much more that can be said. Sometimes we’ve been bad and still won; this time, we were bad and just bad. It’s not [...]

They Say There Are No Real Names In Berlin

By: Abby | Comments 6 Comments

But, there are going to be tomorrow. There are internationals tomorrow for some reason, and the most glamor-y of the glamor friendlies will be at our very own Olympiastadion. England v. Germany, a bitter rivalry, some of the biggest names in world football…well, the ones that aren’t injured (or “injured”), anyway. Which seems to be [...]

Oh Hey. What’s Gojko Kacar Been Up To?

By: Abby | Comments No Comments

Scoring goals, that’s what.
The Serbian U-21 had their final game in the qualifying stages of the UEFA U-21 championships on Sunday, needing a win to advance to the play-offs for the final in Sweden. (This seems needlessly complicated to me, but I’m not a UEFA official.) Their opponents were Hungary, who they’d lost to in [...]

Managing To Not Be Embarrassing

By: Abby | Comments 1 Comment

To say that Hertha have a poor record in the DFB-Pokal is perhaps an understatement. They’re not known for doing well in it, often going out quite early to lower-level opposition. Last season, one might recall, it was Wuppertaler SV Borussia. Although that was in October, so there’s still time to embarrass ourselves.
Anyway! This time [...]

Things That Are Official

By: Abby | Comments 3 Comments

1. Amine Chermiti is a Hertha player. It took long enough- several months, multiple declarations in the press that it’s about to be called off, etc. I’m still not sure what the specifics of the deal are- the Hertha website reports the original news- that it’s a two-year loan for some reason- but the UEFA [...]

News, Rumors, and Internationals

By: Abby | Comments 2 Comments

Well, Nature has seen my hatred of snow and decided to lay down a few inches. Fortunately, I’m home in Denver for Thanksgiving so I don’t actually have to go out in it. Instead I get to drink tea and/or hot chocolate and look at it while watching Euro 2008 qualifiers. I’m currently watching Italy [...]

Generally, I hate snow.

By: Abby | Comments 5 Comments

As funny it was watching highlights of the Hertha-Hannover match last week, I am of the opinion that snow has no place in football (actually, I’m generally of the opinion that snow has no place anywhere but ski resorts).

Matchless Preview/Herthaners Away

By: Abby | Comments No Comments

It’s Friday, which normally means writing a match preview. However, it’s international week, which means there’s no match to write about. However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on in the Hertha world, or that all our players get a week off. A lot of the squad are off with their countries. Let’s hope they [...]
