Not Really Here

I’m not really here. I’m actually at a trade show, in a hotel room, resting from spending all day on my feet doing my job. But, it’s almost the weekend and things happen on weekends.

So, a quick little roundup/preview of everything…

Tomorrow Hertha are off to Hansa Rostock. Not too far from us, up north. Lulu was supposed to be suspended for this game, due to his red-carding at Dortmund, but he’s appealed the ban (and the €15,000 fine that came with it). The hearing is on Tuesday in Frankfurt. I don’t know if he has a chance of success, but at least we’ll have him for a winnable (although probably fierce and physical) away game.

Hansa are 14th in the table, three spots and seven points behind us, as well as five points away from the relegation zone. They’re probably the most successful team of the former East Germany and ranked fourth in amount of fans in Germany, behind Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Schalke 04. They were promoted last season, although they had spent many years in the Bundesliga before being relegated in 2005. Also, their logo has a neat ship on it. And their young defender Marc Stein will be joining us in the summer, replacing Malik Fathi who left. (And we’re not even having less local boys, since Marc is from Potsdam. Which so counts.)

Also, Deutsche Welle has nice things to say about Lulu, and also a very nice interview. He has been doing a good job, really, and I love reading interviews with him. He just seems to have such great ideas and a real passion for the game.

So that’s what I have time for tonight. Wish me luck tomorrow (and Sunday) at the tradeshow, and Hertha tomorrow at Rostock!
