Oh, Right, Cottbus
By: Abby | March 29th, 2008Tomorrow, Hertha head a bit south to the Stadion der Freundschaft to take on Energie Cottbus, who are as of writing officially the bottom team in the Bundesliga. They’re two points behind Bielefeld and Duisburg, 16th and 15th respectively on 22 points, and are fighting for their Bundesliga lives after being promoted two season ago.
There is, from what I understand, some kind of rivalry between Cottbus and Hertha, but you’ll forgive me (hopefully) for not being an expert on it. Apparently the Hertha website aren’t ones either, at least on the English side- all week the focus was on other games, to the point that I’d forgotten it was Cottbus we were playing and not Bremen (next week) or Bochum (the week after). They both got more space on the home page until just yesterday.
But anyway…Cottbus are the bottom team, as said. They’re known for having a lot of Eastern European players. I’m not entirely sure who to watch out for, and have actually not much of a clue as to who the Cottbus players are, so I’m going to focus on our news.
The good news is that Pante is back and he will play. So says Lulu, and Lulu has a bit of a say in these things. It’ll be great to have him on the pitch again- we’ve struggled for goals while he’s been hurt, and hopefully now we’ll be able to get back on the scoresheet again.
We are, however, without Josip Simunic, who picked up another yellow card on Schalke’s visit and has to sit out this one.
Energie need the points desperately, while we’re comfortably mediocre at the moment. It will be a hard-fought game. But here’s hoping we can get something out of it anyway.
