Toasters v. cemeteries
By: Abby | November 2nd, 2007
Hertha BSC Berlin head north to take on Hamburger SV this Saturday and hopefully recover a little pride after the cup defeat. It won’t be an easy proposition. The HSV these days has more going for it than just plans for a club-sponsored cemetery; at the moment they’re second in the Bundesliga with nine wins from ten games. While they haven’t all been the most spectacular- I believe Jan referred to them as 1-0 specialists not very long ago- they’re a fierce proposition, and influential captain/Valencia target Raphael van der Vaart is supposed to be starting his first game since October 6 (he’s been out with injury). They’re also coached by former Hertha trainer Huub Stevens.
The odds are stacked against us, but a good performance is crucial after Wuppertal. As our current manager Lucien Favre said, we must take our chances better and have patience. I think that’s the most important thing- Hertha needs to show some better composure tomorrow.
In good news, striker Marko Pantelic is back. He’s been in good form lately and he was missed in midweek. He also likes using emoticons.
And Josip Šimunić is being sent to anger-management classes. Considering Wednesday’s red card and that his claim to fame is being shown three yellow cards in a game, this is probably warranted. He’ll be facing his former club this weekend, though, since his four-game suspension is reserved for cup games.
I also want to wish a Joyeux Anniversaire to Lucien Favre, who turned 50 today. Also, the Hertha website referred to him as Lulu, which I will from now on attempt to use as a nickname whenever possible.

This Pantelic interview is confusing. At first I thought herthafreundin.de might have send him the questions via e-mail, which would explain the use of emoticons. But then there was the last question:
herthafreundin.de: Do you have tattoos?
Pantelic: (laughes) No, I don’t have a tattoo (…)The (laughes) would indicate to me, that they conducted the interview in person. But how did the emoticons make it into his statements then?
I would also pay good money to see a video of Simunic taking an anger management class.

Maybe he has some hand motions that mean emoticons? I also like how he couldn’t answer the book questions.
Hertha should put that up on their website, charge for it.
