Okay, Okay, They’re Franconian
By: Abby | December 11th, 2007
Next time, when writing a match preview, I’ll make sure to figure out exactly which historical area of Germany a team is located in, because clearly they get annoyed when I don’t get that right. Even if it does make a neat little category for the last two games before the winter break.
Hertha’s poor away form, and poor form in general, continued on Sunday. When the match report on a team’s official website refers to said team as having “the appearance of rabbits in headlights” you know it wasn’t a good night (although generally the English translator of the Hertha website is pretty pessimistic). That’s now three losses in a row. We’re now 12th.
There’s not much I can say, really, having not watched. I was reading through on a German liveticker and watched a video of the goals, and neither were that encouraging. Hertha were behind after 5 minutes and down by two in the 39th. The first half was all Nürnberg- Hans Meyer said he had to “rub his eyes” while watching the first half because his team looked so good, while Lulu commented that “we simply didn’t show up.”
The second half was a bit better. We even got a goal. Young Swiss Fabian Lustenberger stuck the ball into the net after good work from (who else) Marko Pantelic, surprising everyone. It was his first ever Bundesliga goal and seemed to galvanize the team a bit. They even nearly took an unlikely point as Pante had a goal called back for offsides at the death. But, in the end, it was another loss. Thanks to us, Nürnberg are now out of the drop zone and back on track. I guess that’s nice of us? Really, you know, I’d rather be cruel.
Sigh. At least the break’s coming up…
Here are some goals. I like the red away uniform better.
