Bad News and Good News
By: Abby | November 29th, 2007Injuries are piling up, with possibly 4 first-team players out for the visit of Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow. In a squad without huge depth, it is a worry as the 5th-place team approaches.
Swiss central defender Steve von Bergen (which for some reason always sounds like ‘Steve from Bergen’ when the GolTV commentators say it) went off 20 minutes into training yesterday with a hardened thigh muscle. The physios have labeled him doubtful for Saturday.
Josip Simunic has the flu. Also, a calf problem.
Young Pole Ćukasz Piszczek is out with a torn hamstring.
The good news is that Patrick Ebert’s injury isn’t as serious as once thought. He’s still out with a groin problem, but Lulu thinks that he’ll be fit for Saturday. Which means no surgery. Thank goodness for small mercies, right?
Also, Hertha have posted positive financial results for the first time in six years at the general meeting this weekend. Yay!

I think it’s potentially a nice extra service by GolTV to translate parts of the names. Though, it’s a bit inconsistent. They should translate the whole name: Steve from the Mountains. He is Swiss after all. And in case they read this: Mark from Bobble and Rafael from the Vaart (don’t know what Vaart means).
And while at it: I so far only had a brief look at the articles but I’ll update you today on what they are about.

It makes me think he’s Norwegian. It’s like “oh! He’s from Bergen!” And then I realize he’s actually Swiss.
Danke! I have a vague idea, but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything.
