Juliet- glad I was informative. I want a new Audi. Sigh. And it looks like Ellis is bypassing MLS altogether, as you suggested. I think it’s easier for German clubs to incorporate Americans into the squad- they don’t have the same work-permit restrictions as England, and they don’t have the non-EU player restrictions of Spain. And there’s a good tradition of Americans over there.

The goal celebration for the second goal is fantastic, Martha. He just goes crazy and hugs everyone- he nearly knocked over Lulu.

I realize this isn’t exactly the point, but the pictures of Pantelic from that match are fantastic — he looks so totally joyful. (Also, how can he be 29?! He looks like a baby.)

Excellent lessons learned from this post:

1. The perks are better in Europe: From being ignored by DC United to wearing the #17 for a good German club and getting a brand new Audi! I’d never sign with MLS if I were a player.
2. Gojko Kocar is a attractive guy, at least from distance.
3. German clubs like to poach American players — awesome. Go get Michael Bradley next.
4. Pante is gold. Show him the money.
