Making A Not-So-Interesting Game Way More Entertaining
By: Abby | March 7th, 2008Earlier today (or tonight, depending on in what time zone you’re in- for me this was all happening around noon), the Hertha boys were off in Dortmund to play the men in those nice bumblebee outfits. And the good run of form continued- we picked up a point at the Signal-Iduna Park in a 1-1 draw. Sebastian Kehl opened the scoring right before the half (and for those of you who’ve read about Kehl before around these parts, his goal was just a typical header rather than scored with a more salacious body part). Marko Pantelic equalized soon after the restart after some actually very nice work from Raffael and Steve von Bergen.
Despite the two goals, though, the game was considered a bit dull. So referee Babak Rafati decided to try and liven it up a bit. Take a look (it comes after the two goals- and it’s with a bit of pride that I say Hertha’s is the nicer one).
For those of you who can’t watch videos, let me narrate. First, Marko Pantelic believes himself to be fouled. He complains to the ref and says something probably rather offensive to him. After conferring amongst his associates, Rabati shows a red card to Hertha’s leading goalscorer.
And then…he changes his mind. Takes back Pante’s red and gives him a nice friendly handshake. And then pulls that red card out again and shows it to Lulu.
And while I’m worried about the fallout and what it’ll mean for the next few games…for now I’m just going to do some giggling.
