No, Really!
By: Abby | May 6th, 2008Next season, Hertha might have Kaká.
For real. Apparently Dieter Hoeness and Lulu’s assistant Harald Gämperle went to go look at him this weekend, to see how he was doing and if we might make a bid. We’ve got to be sure, after all. We only have so much cash to splash around.
Of course, they went to Portugal and the Kaká in question is a central defender for Académica Coimbra. But it’s still a Kaká. And not just that- next season we might have an Etto as well. While not exactly as exact a name homonym, it’s still close enough to entertain me. (Apparently Etto is a Brazilian right-winger at Dinamo Zagreb, and could be useful in the same way Raffael has been useful- a Brazilian used to the cold winters and rough play of Central Europe.)
So if Bild is to be believed- and frankly, it often isn’t- we’re going to have some famous names in the capitol next season. If not their faces.

Famous names is about as close as we come to having someone of genuine talent join Hertha. Based on this seasons performance Lu Lu’s judge of talent is somewhat questionsbale, someone who carves it up in Switzerland aint neccesarily a Bundelsiga talent!

I think Raffael was a much smarter buy than Lima. Kacar seems to be doing fine. Steve van Bergen is a solid defender. And Hertha a doing much better in the second half of the season, after some of Lulu’s reinforcements, than in the first half. I’m looking forward to see how he develops this squad. He’s already at a point where almost no German is left in the starting XI, so he is following Wenger’s philosophy.;-)

Me too, Jan. I really want to see how the squad looks after Lulu gets a full summer and pre-season behind him. (And we signed one German…)

Congrats. Kaka has signed a contract (til 2012) with Hertha. I heard it here first. You are doing a good job, Abby.
