Offiziel!

I actually have something legitimate to post! Huzzah!

Gojko and Lulu
The newest Herthaner, officially announced, is 20-year-old Serbian midfielder Gojko Kacar, which is only a bit easier to spell than Ljobomir Fejsa (news on Fejsa: FIFA declared his contract is owned by Hadjuk Kula, not FC Metz, which means we have to keep dealing with the president who’s mad at us).

Kacar is a versatile player, having started in defense and comfortable with both the offensive and defensive side of midfielding. Some sources have him as a central defender more than anything. And also sometimes he’s a striker. He’s scored 15 goals in 67 games for FK Vojvodina Novi Sad and already has a cap for Serbia. His goal in moving to Hertha is to secure his place in the Serbian national team and his contract runs until 2012. And if we piss him off, his Olympic boxing uncles will beat us up.

He’ll be wearing the number 44 shirt because his lucky number is 4. Which is already Steve von Bergen’s number. So he took 44 for double luck. I wish him that! His transfer fee was €3 million (can we sell Gilberto now to pay for him?), which makes him the most expensive transfer ever from FK Vojvodina. Uh, good job?

I kid, I kid. He actually looks quite talented, a good tackler with a very strong left foot. If YouTube is anything to go by, they rate him quite highly in Novi Sad. I’m always optimistic with a new transfer, so I’m looking forwards to see what he can do in the Bundesliga.

In fact, here’s a video showing what he can do in Serbia.

YouTube can make anyone look good, of course, but 11 minutes of highlights for a 20-year-old is a good sign.

He’s never ever a striker. I think it’s better calling im a defensive allrounder, who will play in defensive midfield. With the flat four in midfield which Favre wants to play he will be the one who goes straight forward when it goes to attack. That’s what Favre called a “polyvalent” player. Maybe today or latest tomorrow I will bring a graphical sheet with our new team. Then we can disuss our tactics :-)

Hey, I’m just going with what Google throws up at me, which is that he’s an emergency striker sometimes for some reason. But I’d like that graphic! I need to brush up on tactics before the season restarts…

Thought you’d enjoy that, Martha. ;)
