The Transfer Dance
By: Abby | July 22nd, 2009Jan put it best when he called our transfer targets those that “cost nothing and earn less”. It’s not an easy job that Michael Preetz got for himself, finding and signing players for Hertha.
So, what are we looking at, according to the papers?
We had young Serbian Nemanja Pecjinovic on trial, where he apparently impressed Lulu. Some reports say that his transfer fee and wages are too high for a young guy who’s yet to play outside of Serbia, and we’re interested in Montenegrin defender Marko Basa instead. Basa would be more a expensive, but a more tested option. But others say he’s definitely coming.
It’s not just defense, though. Ghana U-20 captain Andre Dede Ayew is set to join us on trial. In the winter of 2008 the left-sided attacker was rumored to be joining Arsenal, but that never came to pass. He spent last season on loan with FC Lorient and Marseilles manager Didier Deschamps has told him he’s surplus to requirements. His father Abedi PelĂ© is a former captain and a legend in Ghana, with a career spent mostly in France, but with a spell at 1860 Munich as well.
Speaking of the French leagues, we’ve also been highly linked to French ‘wunderkind’ Yohan Mollo. The French U-21 international had an excellent season last year at AS Monaco, and is the sort of young talent that Lulu is definitely looking for.
Might it become a bit Francophone up in here?
